SIBI: A blast on Jinnah Road in Sibi, Balochistan on Tuesday left four persons dead and five injured. The police revealed that the explosive device was planted on a motorcycle, leading to the explosion.

The law enforcement authorities have secured the area and called in a bomb disposal squad.

The Medical Superintendent (MS) of Teaching Hospital confirmed the casualties, stating that four deceased individuals and five injured ones were brought to the hospital.

The MS noted that medical treatment is being provided to the injured individuals.

The blast occurred during a rally organized by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in connection with the upcoming general elections in 2024, on Jinnah Road.

This incident comes just 10 days before the scheduled February 8 general elections.

Pakistan has experienced an upsurge in terrorist activities, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan, following the termination of the ceasefire between the government and the outlawed militant group Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan in November 2022.
