- Pakiatn advanced to the finals of the Paris Olympics qualifiers.
- The team is now one win away from securing the Paris Olympics spot.
- Pakistan will play against Germany in the semifinal.
Pakistan has advanced to the semi-finals of the Paris Olympics qualifiers following a 3-3 draw against Malaysia in Muscat, Oman.
They now need just one more victory to secure a spot in the Paris Olympics, with the top three teams from the qualifiers earning qualification.
Pakistan’s progression to the semi-finals was based on a better goal average than China. Despite a 6-0 victory by Great Britain against China in an earlier group match, Pakistan’s draw against Malaysia was sufficient for them to reach the final four. Khan Sufyan, Ammad Butt, and Rana Waheed scored for Pakistan, while Sasri Fitri, Abu Kamal, and Ashari Farhan netted goals for Malaysia.
Pakistan will face Germany in the semi-final on January 20, while Great Britain will compete against New Zealand in the other semi-final.
In an earlier match, Pakistan secured their first win in the qualifiers by defeating China 2-0 after losing the opening match against England 6-1, where Abdul Hanan Shahid scored the solitary goal for Pakistan.
