'17,738 seminaries and 2,249,520 students enrolled in madrasas across country'

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa  Ali Amin Khan Gandapur announced the inclusion of 1500 registered religious seminaries in the solarization project.

A meeting of the Department of Energy and Power was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur, in which the officials decided to include madrasas in the solarization project of mosques and places of worship.

Ali Amin Gandapur directed that up to 1500 registered religious seminaries should be included in the project and ensure the involvement of madrassas from all districts. He said that thousands of students studying in madrassas and it is important to provide solar energy for their facilities.

The Chief Minister said that the appointment of the Chief Executive Officer of Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PEDO)  and the members of the Executive Committee should be done soon, the completion of the hydropower projects should be ensured within the stipulated period and unnecessary delay in the hydropower projects should not be accepted under any circumstances.

Pakistan Navy recovers 10 dead bodies of fisherman

KARACHI: The Pakistan Navy (PN) in coordination with Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) recovered 10 dead bodies out of 14 missing fisherman of boat Al-Assad in a joint search and rescue operation.

The Search and Rescue operation was started on 5th in open sea. Despite dense marine traffic in vicinity of accident, time lapse and choppy sea conditions the dead bodies of 10 missing fishermen were recovered on Monday, a Pakistan Navy news release said.

The fishing boat Al-Assad with an onboard crew of 45 capsized in open sea off Hajmbro creek on March 5th due to inclement weather. Search operation involved multiple assets of PN and PMSA including aircraft, helicopters, ships and speed boats.

Major break through of search efforts marerialised today when PMSS REHMAT upon receipt of information from deployed units recovered 10 dead bodies of missing fishermen.

The recovered bodies have been handed over to concerned civil authorities for further formalities.

KU Academic Council approves allocation of quota of 2% seats for minorities

KARACHI: The meeting of the Academic Council of the University of Karachi approved the allocation of the quota of two percent reserved seats for religious minorities on the campus.

The Universities and Boards Department of the Sindh government has written a letter to the public sector universities to adopt the agenda as a policy matter.

Meanwhile, the participants of the meeting mentioned that the merits of admissions criteria would remain the same for the religious minorities and the students should fulfill their applications to secure their admissions.

The KU Academic Council was chaired by the KU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi and the meeting was held at the Chinese Teachers Memorial Auditorium on Monday.

The KU Academic Council approved the Anti-Plagiarism Policy 2.0, issued by the HEC-Islamabad, and also approved the Pharmacy Council of Pakistan’s recommendations to give 10 additional admissions/seats to Gilgit/Baltistan and Balochistan in the faculty of pharmacy.

In light of the letter of the Higher Education Commission Islamabad, regarding the implementation of the Affiliation Policy 2024, the committee was formed. The convener of the committee is Prof Dr Faiyaz Vaid, and members include Prof Dr Anila Amber Malik, Prof Farah Iqbal, Prof Tanzeem ul-Firdoos, Prof Munawar Abbas, and Prof Muhammad Ashraf.

This Committee would prepare a detailed report after mutual consultation and submit it to the KU VC Prof Dr Khalid Iraqi and later that report will be sent to HEC-Islamabad.

To implement the Seerat course, Quran’s translation, Tajweed, and Tafsir course, as per the direction of the Senate Secretariat Islamabad, the KU Academic Council formed a five-member committee.

During the meeting, the representatives of college teachers highlighted the problems they are facing due to the absence of the college’s academic calendar and shared that it is causing serious issues for the colleges affiliated with the University of Karachi.
