Court approves 4-day physical remand of seminary cleric

CHAKWAL: The two accused arrested in the case of alleged rape of several seminary students in Chakwal Seminary were handed over to the police on 4-day physical remand.

In the Judicial Magistrate’s Court, the investigating officer Saddar police requested a 5-day physical remand of both the accused.

The investigating officer said that the DNA match of the accused has will be done while the CCTV video of the seminary has to be forensically done.

The court handed over the accused Anees and Zeeshan to the police on 4-day physical remand.

The two accused have also been ordered to appear again in the Judicial Magistrate’s Court on November 23.

The police said that the DNA samples of the accused have been sent to the forensic laboratory to confirm the sexual assault. The accused have confessed to indecent acts and violence, but have denied the charge of sexual assault.

According to the police, a case was registered against the teachers in Saddar police station on the complaint of the father of the victim, in which the plaintiff said that his 12-year-old son was troubled for many days. When asked, the son said that he was abused by the teacher.

According to the FIR, the child said that he was raped by two teachers of the madrassa. The child said that two teachers raped several children and also made marks on the body with a knife.

ISLAMABAD: The caretaker government has formed a 19-member industrial advisory council to introduce the first industrial policy before the general elections.

The government has appointed caretaker Federal Minister for Industry and Production Gohar Ejaz as the chairman of the 19-member Industrial Advisory Council, whose notification has also been issued.

12 members from the private sector have been included in the Industrial Advisory Council while 6 government members will also be added to the Advisory Council. The policy will be finalized in light of the report of the Industrial Advisory Council.

According to the notification, the council includes Muhammad Ali Tabba, Fawad Ahmed Mukhtar, Raza Mansha, Amir Fayyaz Sheikh, Waqar Ahmed Malik, Abdul Samad Dawood, Ahsan Bashir and Sameer Chinoy from the private sector.

The council includes all the provincial chief secretaries including the chief secretaries of Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

The caretaker government has planned to bring the first industrial policy before the general elections, for which it has been decided to take suggestions from all sectors.

LAHORE: The Anti-Terrorism Court in Lahore approved a five days physical  remand of Afnan Shafqat, in a case related to tragic road accident in DHA Lahore.

Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Abher Gul heard the request of the police, accused Afnan Shafqat was presented in the court.

The lawyer of the accused pleaded that the accused is young and the media trial is being conducted. He requested that the provisions of terrorism should be removed from the case.

The court remarked that the things you(lawyer) are talking about are for the trial, the truth should come before everyone, the incident is sad, there should be an investigation on truth and merit so that the truth comes before everyone.

Police said that provisions of terrorism have been included in the case and medical tests will be  conducted to determine the age of the accused. Police said investigation is required on various aspects and the court should grant physical remand.

On the complaint of the lawyer of the accused, the court told the investigating officer that the accused should not be harassed and the investigation should be on merit.

The plaintiff Rafaqat requested that the accused should be punished according to law.

The court handed over accused Afnan Shafqat to the police on 5-day physical remand and asked for an investigation report on the next hearing.

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will use National Database and Registration Authority’s server for the general elections, for which a server hosting agreement was signed between the ECP and NADRA.

The preparations of the Election Commission for the general elections is underway. The server hosting agreement has been signed between the ECP and NADRA, under which the electoral regulatory body  will use the server of NADRA for the general elections.

Sources said that the ECP does not have its own server to store data. The Election Commission will pay rent for server hosting of NADRA.

Sources have said that the results of the general elections will be generated through the new software election management system and the election management system will be operated through digital and manual methods.

On the other hand, Election Commission of Pakistan(ECP) has successfully tested EMS and results will be able to be sent online and without internet.

The ECP has successfully tested EMS in all four provinces, tested it in the offices of Regional Election Commissioners and District Election Commissioners in various districts.

The presiding officers will send the results of their polling stations to the returning officers and RO will prepare the results and send them digitally and manually to the ECP, each returning officer will be given four data entry operators.

LAHORE: The detention of Pakistan Tehreak e Insaf(PTI) activist Khadija Shah has been challenged in the Lahore High Court (LHC).

Punjab government, DC Lahore provincial police chief, and superintendent Kot Lakhpat Jail, among others, made respondents.

A petition was filed in the Lahore High Court against the detention of PTI activist and famous designer Khadija Shah.

It has been argued in the petition that Khadija Shah was detained under Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) 3. She was involved in more than one case and she was granted bail in one case and arrested in another.

The petitioner said that now the detention orders have been issued on bail and the detention orders of Khadija Shah should be annulled.

Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Lahore had issued orders to detain famous designer Khadija Shah for 30 days due to concerns about disturbing the law and order situation.
