Minister for Power Khurram Dastgir commits to strengthen democracy besides combating fascism

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Power Khurram Dastgir on Wednesday reiterated the resolve to strengthen democracy besides combating fascist attitudes in the country. Addressing a press conference, the minister said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chief Imran Khan started fascism in 2014 and promoted hatred in the country.

Imran Khan not only promoted undemocratic attitudes but also openly invited people for civil disobedience through torching electricity bills, he added. He said the people were asked not to deposit utility bills besides encouraging overseas Pakistani to send money through ‘Hundi’ in 2014 rather than banks. He went on to say that PTI Chief not only leveled allegations of traitors against patriotic Pakistani but also launched a smear campaign after the tragic army chopper incident in Balochistan. No one would be allowed to play a card of the traitor, he added.

He said later history had proved all those who were dubbed as traitors either for raising voices for provincial autonomy and minority or supremacy of the constitution as the most patriotic people of the country.

Minister for Power Khurram Dastgir said it was imperative to save the country from ‘Imran Fitna’ as he (Imran) had already destroyed the national economy but also ruined foreign policy. Imran badly damaged the diplomatic image of the country and efforts were made to vitiate our relations with conventional friendly countries which always support Pakistan in times of odd, he said.

The minister said the coalition government under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has not only ensured the supremacy of the constitution but also untiring efforts were being made to provide maximum relief to the masses. The government’s concrete measures have put the national economy on right track and soon, inflation would plunge in the coming days, he added.

Minister for Power Khurram Dastgir said the Pakistani currency has been gradually strengthening and Pakistan Stock Exchange also witnessed a bullish trend. Replying to a question, the minister said there was a clear difference between freedom of expression and maligning national institutions through baseless allegations.

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: In the vicinity of Kulachi, terrorists attacked a police van with an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) bomb, where Pakistan Army’s Quick Reaction Force (QRF) immediately reached the spot and cordoned off the area, Inter-Services Public Relations released a statement on Wednesday.

The Army media house claims that two terrorists were killed on the spot. Arms and ammunition have also been recovered from the terrorists. According to ISPR, the locals of Kulachi appreciated the operations of the Pakistan Army, and the residents also expressed their full support for the elimination of terrorism from the area.

Earlier, on August 9, in a suicide attack in North Waziristan, four soldiers of the Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom. The Pakistan Army’s media wing said that a Pakistan Army convoy was targeted in North Waziristan’s Mir Ali as a result, four personnel, namely Lance Naik, Shahzaib, Lance Naik, Sajjad, Sepoy, Umair, and Sepoy Khurram, embraced martyrdom. The ISPR further said the Pakistan Army is committed to eliminating the menace of terrorism from the country.

The prime minister expressed heartfelt sorrow and grief over the martyrdom of four soldiers as a result of the attack. PM Sharif said the evil designs of terrorists would be futile. He paid tribute to the martyred troops for sacrificing their lives for the homeland.

Aamir Khan recalls his bad times, says ‘we were almost homeless’

Aamir Khan comes from a family that has had a long history in Bollywood. His uncle Nasir Hussain produced popular movies like Dil Deke Dekho, Yaadon Ki Baraat, and Aamir’s debut movie Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, while his father Tahir Hussain worked as a producer. But Aamir insists that he didn’t have a comfortable upbringing because his family wasn’t wealthy, in large part because his father lost a lot of money.

His father Hussain started acting in the 1960s, appearing in movies like Pyar Ka Mausam and Jab Pyar Kisise Hota Hai. But he began his career as a producer by the decade’s conclusion. He made a number of movies during the following two decades, including Caravan, Anamika, and Tum Mere Ho. But aside from his early flicks, the majority did not perform well at the box office.

YouTuber Prajakta Koli, also known as MostlySane, spoke with Aamir said, “A lot of people say you are from the film industry because my father was a producer. Everyone assumes that when you are a film producer’s son, you are rich. My father was not a good businessman. He always lost money. He made successful films but did not make money. We were always in debt for some reason.”

“He had taken a lot of loans and at that time the rate of interest was 36 percent and there was a point of time that we were almost going to be homeless. Financially we were not well off but otherwise, we had a happy childhood. We’ve been through rough times, my father has struggled a lot. We haven’t been financially secure but we had a good childhood,” he recalled.

Aamir had just broken down in tears while discussing how he and his siblings frequently did not have money for school fees, forcing them to endure humiliation in the school assembly. They were speaking with the Humans of Bombay’s Facebook page at the time. When their names were announced during the school assembly in front of the entire school, he had added, “Our names would frequently appear on the list of pupils who haven’t paid the fees and it was embarrassing.”

On the work front, Aamir is currently promoting his upcoming film “Laal Singh Chaddha,” which also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan.
