On Friday (26th March) Pakistan lost one of its gems as a renowned dramatist and playwright Haseena Moin breathed her last at the age of 79.
The legendary artist had been battling cancer for the past few years.
After the demise of Haseena Moin, many Pakistani celebrities including Humayun Saeed, Mahira Khan, Amna Ilyas, and others pay homage to her.
Humayun Saeed:
The Bin Roye actor paid rich tribute to Haseena Moin on his social media handle and wrote,
“Haseena apa’s invaluable contribution to our drama industry helped pave the way for many. Not only was she a great writer but a woman of great strength who continued to mentor us till her last breath. May she rest.”
Imran Abbas:
“Haseena Apa! We can’t thank enough you for taking Pakistani Drama to this height, for portraying the strength of women through your masterpieces, for stashing our memory with “ankahi” feelings of love and emotions.”
“The creator of best dramas in the history of Pakistani Drama and writer of my first serial “Haseena Moin” left us for eternity. These “tanhaiyyan” would always be there without you Apa! Haseena Moin was born on November 20, 1941 in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. She received her early education at home and after the partition of India her family settled in Rawalpindi but soon they moved to Lahore. She came to Karachi in the 50’s.
She did her Masters in History from Karachi University in 1963. She’s the writer of several Pakistani hit dramas like:
- Ankahi
- Tanhaiyaan
- Kiran Kahani,
- Dhoop Kinaray
- Aahat,
- Uncle Urfi
- Shehzori
- Kohar
- Des Pardes
- Pal Do Pal
- Aansoo
- Kasak
- Parchaiyan
- Parosi
Haseena Moin also wrote dialogues for the Indian film Henna at the behest of Raj Kapoor, which was released in 1991. On August 14, 1987, she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Excellence by the Government of Pakistan.
