Chawla, a celebrated Bollywood star of the 1990s, has surpassed contemporary icons such as Aishwarya Rai, Deepika Padukone, and Priyanka Chopra in wealth.

The Hurun India Rich List also highlights Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan as the wealthiest actor, with assets totaling INR 7,300 crore ($880 million). Despite Chawla’s reduced presence in films, her diverse ventures have contributed to her substantial fortune, placing her in an exclusive category where no other Indian actress has yet crossed the INR 1,000 crore mark.

The 2024 Hurun report also notes a rise in ultra-wealthy individuals in India, with 1,539 people now holding assets exceeding INR 1,000 crore. Additionally, a recent Forbes report on the highest-paid Indian film stars for 2024 revealed Shah Rukh Khan’s commanding fees of INR 150 crore to INR 250 crore per film, with South Indian superstar Rajinikanth following at INR 115 crore to INR 170 crore per movie.
