  • Pakistani security forces repelled the attack.
  • 8 soldiers lost their lives defending the compound.
  • Explosion caused by attackers breached the cantonment wall.
At least eight soldiers embraced martyrdom in a recent assault by terrorists in Bannu Cantonment. The security forces successfully thwarted the assault while killing all 10 millitants, as reported by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Tuesday. The ISPR detailed that the assault on the military compound occurred early on July 15, with the security forces effectively preventing the militants from breaching the facility. Unable to gain entry, the attackers detonated a vehicle packed with explosives against the cantonment’s boundary wall, according to the ISPR. The explosion caused a section of the wall to collapse and inflicted damage on nearby structures, leading to the loss of eight valiant soldiers. The names of the soldiers' names are as follows; - Naib Subedar Muhammad Shehzad - Havildar Zil-e-Hussain - Havildar Shahzad Ahmed - Sepoy Ashfaq Hussain Khan - Sepoy Sobhan Majeed - Sepoy Imtiaz Khan - Sepoy Arsalan Aslam - Frontier Constabulary's Lance Naik Sabz Ali The ISPR’s statement emphasized, “This timely and effective response by the security forces prevented a major catastrophe, saving precious innocent lives. The gallant and selfless action of the security forces is a testament to their unrelenting resolve in the fight against terrorism.” The military spokesperson identified the assailants as part of the Hafiz Gul Bahadur group based in Afghanistan, which has previously used Afghan territory to launch attacks in Pakistan. The statement also reaffirmed the security forces’ commitment to safeguarding the nation against terrorist threats and their readiness to take all necessary actions to counter these dangers originating from Afghanistan.
