LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has issued a strong warning to the federal government, stating that authorities will be responsible for the consequences if an agreement is not reached by Friday.

Speaking at a membership drive event in Lahore, the JI chief highlighted that there are 16 days left for the implementation of the Rawalpindi agreement, and if it isn’t fulfilled, the government will be held accountable for any resulting outcomes.

Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman stressed that whatever actions his party decides to take, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif should not object.

He declared that the public can no longer tolerate the burdens imposed by the government and Independent Power Producers (IPPs).

He also mentioned ongoing discussions with the business community about organizing a 3-day nationwide strike aimed at halting the country’s operations.

Crediting Jamaat-e-Islami for recent power tariff relief in Punjab, the JI leader called for the actual cost of electricity to be applied equally across Pakistan.

He urged the ruling class to cut back on their privileges and luxuries, accusing past governments—PML-N, PPP, and PTI—of protecting IPPs. He vowed to continue the movement in the coming days to advocate for fair policies.
