ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, President of Turkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, following the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Summit, in Khankendi, Azerbaijan strolled together and exchanged pleasantries.

The president of Azerbaijan briefed the prime minister and the Turkish president about the history of Khankendi and its historical buildings the other day. The three leaders engaged in an informal and pleasant conversation.

During the walk, the leaders held their hands as a gesture of the exemplary fraternal relations and solidarity among Pakistan, Turkiye, and Azerbaijan.

Later, President Ilham Aliyev personally drove the prime minister to Shusha for a luncheon.

The prime minister had been in Azerbaijan to lead Pakistan delegation at the ECO Summit.

Earleir, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif presented Pakistan’s firm position on climate change, Israeli and Indian aggression, trade, tourism, and energy cooperation during the 16th ECO (Economic Cooperation Organization) Heads of State Summit, held in Khankendi, Azerbaijan.

The Prime Minister congratulated President Ilham Aliyev for successfully hosting the ECO Summit and expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality in Khankendi. He also appreciated Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for his previous services as ECO Chairman.

PM Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that the world is witnessing rapid technological transformation, leading to increased interdependence and knowledge-sharing.

He stressed that joint efforts are essential to tackle climate change, especially as ECO member states face threats like melting glaciers, heatwaves, floods, and droughts.
