Sajal Aly, a popular actress from Pakistan who is recognized in both Pakistan and India, has expressed her backing for the justice campaign after the devastating rape and murder of a female doctor in Kolkata, India. The body of a 31-year-old physician was discovered at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata on August 9th. As per the college staff, she had gone to the conference room to relax after completing nearly 20 hours of a 36-hour shift. The following day, they found her body, and an autopsy verified that she had been sexually assaulted by a group and then murdered by strangulation. The event led to extensive demonstrations throughout India, particularly among doctors and activists. Bollywood stars also showed their anger on the internet, with Sajal Aly participating. She posted a photo on her Instagram story with the message "No Mercy for Rapists," expressing solidarity with the movement seeking justice for the victim. Health professionals across India initiated a countrywide strike in reaction to the criminal activity. Protests under the banner "Reclaim the Night" occurred in Kolkata and other areas, organized by feminist organizations and healthcare workers. The IMA criticized the attack, describing it as a "barbaric crime" and highlighting the absence of safe places for women, stating that both the medical community and the nation were affected.
