QUETTA: Two children were killed by torrential rains in Mosakhel and Dera Bugti in the previous 24 hours, bringing the overall death toll in Baluchistan during storms to around 104, according to a report provided by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).

According to the PDMA statistics, the death ratio of women and children is higher than that of males. According to the report, 40 men, 30 women, and 34 children perished as a result of the excessive rains.

As per the details, the deaths occurred in Quetta, Bolan, Zhob, Daki, Khuzdar, Kohlo, Kech, Mastong, Hartnai, Qila Saif Ullah, and Sibbi. 61 persons were injured or suffered minor injuries as a result of the torrential rains. According to the PDMA study, urban floods in the province destroyed or damaged 6068 dwellings. Rains have also seriously impacted four separate routes totaling 550 kilometers. The rains also killed 706 cattle, according to the study.

  • Most of the lives claimed by the torrential rains are of women and children. The report further elaborates that 39 men, 28 women, and 32 children lost their lives in different incidents that happened across the province
  • According to the PDMA report, a total of 197,930 acres of standing crops, solar plates, tube wells, and water borings have also been damaged

 

QUETTA: In the past 24 hours, torrential rains have claimed nine lives raising the total death toll to 99 in Baluchistan, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) reported on Thursday.

According to the PDMA report, most of the lives claimed by the torrential rains are of women and children. The report further elaborates that 39 men, 28 women, and 32 children lost their lives in different incidents that happened across the province. The rains claimed the lives in the city Bolan, Quetta, Mastong, Kech, Harnai, Qila Saif Ullah, Sibbi, Zhob, Daki, and Khuzdar.

As per the details, the incidents resulted in the wounding of around 57 people. Totally, 3,953 houses collapsed. Moreover, four different highways covering 550 km have also been severely affected due to rains. The report further states that 706 livestock have been killed by the rains.
