Paul Leonard Newman was an actor, film director, race car driver, and entrepreneur from the United States. Newman received multiple honors, including an Academy Award, a BAFTA Award, and three Golden Globe Awards.
According to a biography on the Hollywood superstar, Paul Newman was “guilty as hell” for starting an affair with Joanne Woodward and carried a sense of remorse for the dissolution of his first marriage for the “rest of time.”
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, which airs today morning at 10:50 a.m., has Paul as one of the stars. In this classic western, Paul and Robert Redford play the titular leaders of a band of outlaws, Butch and Sundance, respectively. Bandits have earned a name for themselves stealing banks and outwitting law enforcement at a time when the West is growing civilized.

Paul gingerly said: “I was probably too immature to make a success of my first marriage. What happened to us during that period is nobody’s business. He did however confess to being “guilty as hell” adding: “And I’ll carry it with me for the rest of my life.”
