She highlighted that Pakistan’s colonial history has left a lingering impact, particularly evident in the mindset of its people. Many, especially among the elite, carry a colonial mentality, which they impose on the general population due to their influence and status. This has significantly shaped the collective mindset of Pakistanis, fostering colorism, where fair skin is often equated with beauty.

‘Budhi Ghori Laal Lagam’ Emerges As Eid Telefilms Champion

Budhi Ghori Laal Lagam

Sheheryar Munawar, known for his talent in both acting and directing, achieved remarkable success with his directorial venture, the telefilm “Budhi Ghori Laal Lagam”. Amidst tough competition from other Eid ul Adha telefilms, this captivating production managed to secure the top spot, capturing the hearts of viewers with its exceptional cast and a refreshing storyline with a profound underlying message.

Penned by Sheheryar Munawar himself, the telefilm revolves around the lives of a couple in their 60s, Jahangir (portrayed by Salman Shahid) and Zubi (portrayed by Simi Raheal). Having devoted their entire lives to raising their children, Ayesha and Kareem, the couple now seeks to prioritize their own well-being and find happiness in each other’s company. However, their unconventional and carefree lifestyle, coupled with their spending habits, becomes a point of contention for their children.

“Budhi Ghori Laal Lagam” delves deep into the societal taboo associated with senior citizens leading independent lives and explores the varied reactions from different segments of society. While some admire and applaud the couple as “couple goals,” others criticize and demean them for daring to live a fulfilling and joyful life on their own terms.

Adding to the thought-provoking and entertaining moments brought to life by Simi Raheal and Salman Shahid, the telefilm features surprise appearances by Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed, enhancing the overall grandeur and setting the tone for the rest of the production.

With Sheheryar Munawar at the helm as writer and director, “Budhi Ghori Laal Lagam” boasts a stellar cast including Salman Shahid, Simi Raheal, Ahsan Khan, Sarwat Gillani, Behroze Sabzwari, Asma Abbas, Huma Nawab, and Aadi Adeal Amjad, who deliver exceptional performances and contribute to the telefilm’s success.

Simi Raheal reveals unfair behaviour of seniors in showbiz

Simi Raheal

Pakistani television actress Simi Raheal is a gifted individual. She has more experience in the field than anyone else. Simi Raheal always chooses her characters carefully and is quite choosy in her work. Ishq E Laa, Anaa, and Sabaat were her most recent and well-liked dramas. All of these dramas received a lot of positive public attention and viewership.

Simi Raheal recently participated in a presentation for Fuchsia Magazine where she spoke with older performers about the unequal treatment of the industry.

She stated: ““First of all let me tell you that there is nothing like fair treatment in this world, the word ‘Fair’ doesn’t even exist, the answer is, no, the treatment is not at all fair, how can you acknowledge someone’s journey?, you don’t go to one’s place and gift him/her a branded suit, don’t just say that we respect you because this is the sheer disrespect when you are not paying the desired respect to your seniors. In our industry, the scripts are not written for senior actors, in the other parts of world, people tell different stories, we don’t tell different stories, it should be the actors’ choice to refuse the characters but here actors can’t choose because of their bread and butter, they are compelled to do same stories.”

“In PTV’s tenure things were quite okay, there were not much financial issues, creative work was being done, the things got changed after the advertising industry took over, the advertisements require young faces because they are sold, the things changed altogether.” she added.
