Turkey Earthquake: FM Qureshi dials Turkish counterpart to offer help

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has on Saturday dialed his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu to offer condolences over the loss of lives and property due to earthquake in the country.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi conveyed his condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for early recovery of the injured.

He said the Pakistan government and the entire nation stand by their Turkish brethren in this difficult moment. He also offered every sort of help to them.

The Foreign Minister extended Pakistan’s offer to dispatch relief teams and field hospitals for rehabilitation of quake-affected people.

The Turkish Foreign Minister thanked on behalf of his leadership for best wishes and the offer of assistance.

He said if Turkey needs any material support, it will accept Pakistani brothers’ offer first of all.

Earlier, in a statement, the Foreign Office spokesman expressed deep grieve and lament over the devastation caused by the tragic incident in Turkey.

The Foreign Office spokesman said, “Extremely anguished by news of the earthquake in Izmir, #Turkey, and people reportedly trapped in demolished buildings. Like always, people of Pakistan are in strong solidarity with their Turkish brethren. Our best wishes and prayers!.”

Shibli Faraz saddened over tragic Turkey earthquake incident

Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Senator Shibli Faraz has expressed deep lament over the devastation caused by severe earthquake in Turkey.

In a statement on Twitter, he said Pakistan equally shares the grief of Turkish brothers and sisters in this hour of trial.

The Information Minister commiserated with the bereaved families and prayed for early recovery of the injured in the earthquake.

On the other hand, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi felt deep grief over the severe earthquake in Izmir city of Turkey.

In his tweet, the foreign minister wrote, “Prayers for our Turkish brothers and sisters affected by the terrible earthquake in #Izmir. Pakistan stands by Turkey in support and solidarity.”

He vowed that Pakistan will always stand with his brotherly country through ups and downs.

A strong earthquake measuring 7 on the Richter scale had felt in Turkey.

According to the US Geological Survey, an earthquake measuring 17 on the Richter scale struck 17 kilometres off the coast.

However, no casualties reported in the latest reports from Turkey, but images from Izmir show buildings collapsing in the aftermath of the quake.

According to the US Geological Survey, the quake affected Greece and Crete.

Furthermore, frightened by the tremors, people took to the streets in a state of fear and chaos.
