Thirty-year-old Shantanu Naidu is the youngest general manager at Tata Trust. He was a trusted assistant and close friend of late Indian business tycoon Ratan Tata, who sadly passed away two days ago. Their unique mentor-mentee relationship developed from their shared love of dogs.
Who is Shantanu Naidu?
Hailing from Pune, Maharashtra, Shantanu Naidu started his career at Tata Elxsi in 2014 as a design engineer. His desire to help stray dogs inspired him to design reflective dog collars, though it seemed difficult to obtain funding. Motivated by his father, he requested assistance from Ratan Tata by writing him a letter. He got a response after two months and finally met Tata in Mumbai. Rather than requesting quick cash, Shantanu concentrated on his idea, which eventually gained support from Ratan Tata and became an entrepreneurial venture.
Shantanu took over as Ratan Tata’s general manager in 2018 and managed projects under Tata’s direction. In addition to his job at Tata Trust, Shantanu started Goodfellow to assist elders, valued at Rs 5 crore.
After graduating from Savitribai Phule Pune University with a degree in engineering, Shantanu went on to Cornell Johnson Graduate School of Management to get an MBA. There, he demonstrated leadership abilities and advanced within the Tata organization.
