Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shahbaz Sharif said that he felt much helpless in jail when heard about his mother’s death.

“The world can see how I am spending my days and nights in prison. What can be more devastating than hearing about your mother’s death while you are behind bars?” Shahbaz said.

Shahbaz said that he was not allowed access to a physiotherapist in jail, nor was a heater installed in his cell despite the cold.

The PML-N leader, along with his son Hamza Shahbaz released from jail on a five-day parole for the funeral of Begum Shamim Akhtar, which took place on Saturday, November 28.

Both, father and son, had been arrested and imprisoned after being charged in a money-laundering case.

Shahbaz said that he was not allowed access to a physiotherapist in jail, nor was a heater installed in his cell despite the cold.

“The government is exacting revenge on me. But this too shall pass,” he said.

Speaking about the current political climate in the country, Shahbaz said that the PTI-led government has destroyed the country’s economy.
