Former Pakistani women cricketer Sana Mir confirmed that she has contracted the novel coronavirus and urged people to wear masks and to follow all the SOPs.

Taking to her Twitter account, Mir wrote,

“Thank you for all your wishes and prayers for my birthday and recovery. I have tested positive and only have mild symptoms for now. Informed the people who were in close contact, all are negative till now Alhamdulillah. Keep wearing the mask, the act may protect you and others.”

The off-spinner is the leading wicket-taker for Pakistan in ODIs and second-highest behind Nida Dar in T20Is.

Mir also became the world’s top-ranked bowler for one-day internationals (ODIs); and the top wicket-taker for spinners ever among women in ODIs.

She has been decorated with the Pakistani medal of excellence known as the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, similar to the U.S. Congressional Medal of Honor, while also winning the People’s Choice Award at the Pakistan Sports Awards.
