PTI

ISLAMABAD:  Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf(PTI) has field a plea in the Supreme Court challenging the 26th Constitutional Amendment, seeking its annulment.

The PTI filed a petition against the 26th Amendment in the Supreme Court through lawyer Sameer Khosa, urging the amendment to be revoked.

The petition states that Parliament cannot change the basic issue of the constitution, the independence of the judiciary is the main part of the constitution and no amendment can be made against the independence of the judiciary, so constitutional amendment is against the constitutional principle of distribution of powers.

In its petition, the PTI has also urged the Judicial Commission to stop the judicial commission from the decision on the 26th Constitutional Amendment.

It should be noted that 15 petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court against the 26th Constitutional Amendment.
