Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan will address a National Coordination Committee (NCC) meeting on Tuesday (tomorrow) to take important decisions regarding increasing Coronavirus cases across the country.

According to sources, the PM will review the current COVID-19 situation and take decisions on smart lockdowns and other measures to curb the infection.

NCOC officials and the Ministry of Health and Education will attend the meeting. They will discuss the growing trend of COVID-19 infections across the country.

The premier will be briefed on the measures taken to contain the spread of coronavirus and will give the final approval on the closure of educational institutions.

Important decisions are expected to be taken in the NCC meeting which can include more smart lockdowns in different parts of the country, sources revealed.

Earlier in a day, Sindh Minister for Education Saeed Ghani made a statement regarding the Department of Education under the federation at a meeting of the NCOC chaired by the Federal Minister for Education.

“This year children will not be promoted in classes without exams.”

“We suggest that all educational institutions should not be closed, but if it seems so, then the primary schools with an enrollment of 73% should be closed while all classes of class 6 and above should be continued, added Saeed Ghani

Saeed Ghani further said, “The ninth, tenth, eleventh, and twelfth examinations should not be taken in May and June but should be held and decided later based on the situation ahead.”

In order to provide financial relief to small private schools, loans should be provided to them on easy terms through banks and interest should be paid by the federal government so that these private schools do not suffer financially.

“Along with schools, we should also include tuition and coaching centers,” said Saeed Ghani

All non-teaching activities should be completely closed in educational institutions this year.

During the second wave of coronavirus, the federal government has taken an important decision today (Monday) regarding educational institutions.
