Bulgarian PM Kiril Petkov submits government resignation

  • Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov’s government has resigned after it lost a vote of no confidence in parliament.
  • The cabinet was ousted on Wednesday, two weeks after one of the four coalition partners withdrew its support for the government elected in December.
  • It will keep running until a new Council of Ministers is chosen or elected.

SOFIA: Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov gave his coalition government’s resignation to the National Assembly on Monday after it lost a vote of no confidence, as per the Parliament’s press office

As per the country’s constitution, losing candidates are required to resign.

The Petkov government will keep running until a new Council of Ministers is chosen or elected.

The cabinet was ousted on Wednesday, two weeks after one of the four coalition partners, the There Is Such A People party, withdrew its support for the government elected in December.
