PDM Protest: Imran Khan was “illegally imposed” on the country, Maryam

PDM Protest outside ECP Maryam Nawaz

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz has on Tuesday said that Imran Khan has confessed to all the crimes and the only punishment is given in this regard.

Addressing the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) protest outside the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in Islamabad, Maryam said that today if people are facing difficulties, then the people take ECP responsible for that.

You were selected by holding the ECP hostage and rigging people’s votes, she added.

The PML-N leader further lashed out at the Prime Minister saying that he was fully prepared to rob the people from the beginning.

“Today we have gathered in front of the ECP office to remind it of its constitutional responsibilities, to tell the chief election commissioner that your institution is a constitutional institution and an institution of the people. This is the institution that the Constitution has made responsible for respecting the people’s votes and this is the institution that had to get respect for the people’s votes,” she added.

Terming the PTI foreign funding case the “biggest fraud in Pakistan’s history”, she said although the cases against her father were expedited and decided within days, the ECP had “only held 70 hearings” of the PTI case since 2014.

“Today the PDM and public ask you if you did not steal, then why did you try to stop the case 30 times?” Maryam said, addressing Prime Minister Imran Khan.

She added that the premier had submitted six requests in the court saying the ECP could not decide this case.

On the other hand, addressing the crowd, Ahsan Iqbal said PM Imran Khan was “illegally imposed” on the country.

He slammed the government over the economic crisis and policies. “It is time the selected government is sent packing.”

Furthermore, he said that PDM would submit its memorandum tomorrow, not today.

Moreover, opposition parties under the banner of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) are leading separate rallies to the ECP office in Islamabad to protest against delayed proceedings in the PTI foreign funding case.

PDM chief Maulana Fazl ur Rehman, PML-N’s Maryam Nawaz and Ahsan Iqbal, PPP’s Sherry Rehman, and Raja Pervez Ashraf, PKMap’s Mehmood Khan Achakzai, Akhtar Mengal have arrived at the protest and are addressing the crowd one by one.
