The incumbent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led government has on Tuesday (today) offered the Deputy Chairman Slot to the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Senator Abdul Ghafoor Haideri.
Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, however, has now rejected PTI’s offer of Senate deputy chairmanship.
During a media briefing, the JUI-F leader said that we haven’t discussed any matter regarding the Senate deputy chairmanship in the meetings taken place earlier.
He further added, “Pervez Khattak talked in front of the media after the meeting. I condemn in the strongest words such talk by the minister in front of the media.”
He also termed the offer by the government as ‘meaningless’.
While criticizing the Imran Khan-led government, he said, “The government is using delaying tactics to save its sinking ship.”
Earlier in the day, JUI-F leader Abdul Ghafoor Haideri held a meeting with the Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani.
After the meeting, during his media talk, Defence Minister Pervez Khattak said that the government has offered the Deputy Chairmanship of Senate to JUI-F Secretary-General.
Moreover, Abdul Ghafoor Haideri said that he cannot predict who will become Chairman Senate on March 12 nor has he been informed about PDM’s decision about candidates for the top slots of Senate.
Meanwhile, PDM in the steering committee meeting decided to field the JUI-F candidate for the Deputy Chairmanship of Senate.
