The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) has on Sunday issued a fresh travel advisory for all passengers boarding domestic flights following the sharp COVID-19 surge across Pakistan.
According to a notification, the CAA has declared the COVID-19 vaccination certificate mandatory for passengers travelling through domestic flights from August 01 (today).
“In continuation to the steps being undertaken to curb the spread of Covid-19 in Pakistan, it has been decided by the Competent Authority that with effect from August 1, 2021, no Pakistani passenger of 18 years of age and above, will be allowed to undertake domestic air travel within Pakistan without proof of Covid-19 vaccination,” the notification read.
Earlier on July 17, the Civil Aviation Authority had directed all employees to get themselves vaccinated against the virus by July 31.
PCAA Issued Travel Advisory For International Flights
Previously, The CAA had issued a travel advisory for international flights amid the rising coronavirus infections, stating that only 20 flights will be operated in Pakistan till July 15.
The aviation authority had stated in the notification that 80 per cent of inbound international flights will be banned except for the operations up to 20 per cent in harmony with the Summer 2021 schedule.
It added that the international inbound flights were improved to 40 per cent only for direct flights from the United Kingdom (UK), Canada, Europe, Malaysia, and China from July 1.
The CAA had also noticed that some foreign air carriers operating to and from Pakistan are over-booking passengers for inbound flights to Pakistan from different international destinations on the conjecture of a predictable authorization of the heightened quota in the next NOTAM.
Later, the airlines started cancellation of the overbookings on the pretext that CAA has cancelled flight authorizations thereby holding the blame on Pakistan’s aviation authority.
It had added that CAA has taken strict notice of the wrongdoing by foreign airlines leading to public discomfort and inconvenience for the travellers and reserves the right to take punitive action.
