England confirms Pakistan tour despite floods

  • Due to security reasons, England has not played in Pakistan since 2005.
  • Despite Pakistan’s recent flooding disaster, ECB remains committed to the next T20 tour of the country.
  • Matches are scheduled to go place in Karachi and Lahore.

Despite Pakistan’s recent flooding disaster, the England and Wales Cricket Board remains committed to the next T20 tour of the country.

Due to security reasons, England has not played in Pakistan since 2005, and last year, they abruptly canceled a scheduled series.

The decision infuriated the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), making the arrival of England for a seven-match T20 series beginning on September 20 even more critical for ties between the two nations.

Despite the greatest floods in Pakistani history, which have left 1,200 dead and are still rising and submerged a third of the nation, matches are scheduled to go place in Karachi and Lahore, and there are currently no adjustments planned.

“It’s a shifting picture at the moment, there’s been a heck of a lot of communication between individuals out there and the ECB, the PCA (Professional Cricketers’ Association),” said Rob Key, managing director of men’s cricket at the ECB, in response to a question regarding the situation on Friday.

“But we really want to take this vacation, so it would take a lot for us to stay behind. For the people of that nation, it has been a really trying time, so maybe us coming there and playing will be a good thing.”

“I can’t wait to go out there.”

However, the pair had created a solid base on which Khushdil Shah could take advantage of the Hong Kong bowlers. Pakistan’s cameo of 35 off 15 balls from Khushdil helped the team reach 193/2.

Mohammad Rizwan batted through the entire innings and finished on 78 undefeated.

Off-spinner Ehsan Khan was the only bowler for Hong Kong to record a wicket; he removed Babar and Zaman in four overs for a total of 28 runs.

England cricket team likely to visit Pakistan for T2OIs

England Cricket Team

The England cricket team is likely to visit Pakistan for a three-match T20I series from January 15 to 20.

According to the details, Wasim Khan, Chief Executive of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), who already is in Birmingham on a ten-day leave, will discuss the series with Tom Harrison, the CEO of England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), soon.

Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, an online meeting will be scheduled, however, the PCB officials have thought to hold a face-to-face meeting with ECB in London.

It should be mentioned here that earlier this month, PCB CEO had proposed the series to his English counterparts.

On the other hand, many English publications have reported that the proposal for the Pakistan tour is likely to be accepted even if the ECB has a busy schedule.

Earlier today, The Pakistan Cricket Board today confirmed the men’s national team will tour South Africa in April 2021 for three One-Day Internationals, which will be part of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League, and as many T20 Internationals
