PCB will try to create a window for PSL 6, says CEO Wasim Khan

Wasim Khan: challenges PCB faced during the Shift of PSL-6 to UAE

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has on Thursday announced to put off the sixth edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) after a rising number of Coronavirus cases among the players.

In this regard, PCB Chief Executive (CEO) Wasim Khan, addressed a press conference and stated that today is a sad day for all the PSL fans and the management.

While briefing the presser at the National Stadium, Wasim Khan said, “It’s a very challenging day for us [PCB], cricket lovers, stakeholders, players and officials involved.”

He further added, “Health and safety of the players are above everything so we came to the conclusion that it is best to postpone the event.”

“Biosecure bubble is all about trust and discipline. Building trust will take some time but we make sure this doesn’t happen again. Postponing PSL is a difficult moment for PCB and fans too but we PCB are resilient to make PSL6 possible again,” Khan went on to add.

He also maintained that the rising number of COVID-19 cases was a collective fault and it is not the time to blame anyone.

“We have done everything, we possibly could but with any bio-secure bubble, it takes partnerships, discipline, and self-policing. These are the factors for us to remember,” added the PCB CEO.

However, the cricket board, as an immediate step, will focus on the safe and secure passage of all participants and arrange repeat PCR tests, vaccines, and isolation facilities to the six participating sides.
