OGRA recommends increase in petrol price by Rs2.70 for next 15 days

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has recommended the petroleum division to raise fuel prices including that of petrol in December.

According to the details, a summary with higher prices has been sent from the regulatory body to the division.

The OGRA recommends raising petrol prices by Rs2.55 per litre from December 1 while High-speed diesel should be increased by Rs2.70.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has to approve the increase in prices before they come into effect. The finance ministry will announce the new prices on November 30 (today).

It is pertinent to mention here that federal government on November 15 lowered fuel prices in the country, bringing down the price of petrol by Rs1.71 per litre.

The prices were lowered for the next 15 days as per the new policy of the incumbent government and would come into force from November 16.

Petrol prices likely to decrease from November

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) on Saturday recommended up to a Rs 2 decrease in Petrol prices for the month of November.

OGRA has sent a summary of the reduction in prices of petroleum products to the government.

According to the summary, the OGRA has recommended a Rs 1.50 cut in the per liter price of petrol and Rs2 in the price of high-speed diesel (HSD). The finance ministry will announce new fuel prices for November after Prime Minister Imran Khan’s approval.

However, authorities said the government may keep the Petrol prices unchanged by increasing the petroleum levy.

On September 30, the government had cut the price of high-speed diesel by Rs2.40 per liter and kept that of petrol and other petroleum products unchanged for a fortnight with effect from October 1.

Later on October 15, the government decided to keep fuel prices unchanged for the rest of the month.
