Pakistan: Moon For Shaban Al-Moazzam Not Sighted

Shawwal moon sighted in Saudi Arabia, Eid to be observed on Sunday

The crescent for Shaban Al-Moazzam has not been sighted in Pakistan on Sunday and the first day of the month will fall on Tuesday, March 16.

According to Ruet-e-Hilal Committee. Shaban moon has been sighted in Pakistan and Shab-e-Barat would be observed on Monday, March 29.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee met today for the sighting of the moon of Shaban, 1442 AH.

Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, chairman of Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee presided over the meeting.

The Meteorological Department (PMD) had earlier stated that there is a major uncertainty of sighting the new Shaban moon on the evening of March 14.

Shaban moon sighting in Saudi Arabia 

Saudi Arabia has declared that the moon for the month of Shaban was not sighted in the country.

However, Sunday would be the last day of Rajab in Saudi Arabia.

Federal Cabinet approves new bill regarding Ruet-e-Hilal

The Federal cabinet has on Wednesday approves three bills drafted by the religious affairs ministry.

According to sources, the federal cabinet has ratified a bill that seeks imprisonment and a fine of Rs500,000 for people involved in private moon sightings.

The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee 2020, Muslim Family Law 2020, and Publication of Holy Quran Amendment Bill were also approved during the meeting.

The sources said that under the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee 2020, people who form private Ruet-e-Hilal committees would be fined and imprisoned. The decisions of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will be binding across Pakistan.

As per the Publication of the Holy Quran Amendment Bill, high quality paper and board will be used for the printing of the Quran. Under the amendment bill, there will be fines and penalties for substandard printing.

Earlier, Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman, chairman of Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, had been removed from office.

According to the notification issued by the government, Maulana Abdul Khabir had been appointed as the new chairman of central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.

According to sources, the committee has 19 members, including Raghib Naeemi, Hussain Akbar, Maulana Fazlur Rahim, Dr Yaseen Zafar, Mufti Iqbal Chishti, Dr Mufti Ali Asghar, Faisal Ahmed, Syed Ali Qarar Naqvi, Mufti Fazl Jameel, Hafiz Abdul Ghafoor. , Yusuf Kashmiri, Qari Mirullah, Habibullah Chishti and Mufti Zameer.

The committee also includes a representative from SUPARCO, Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission and the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
