KARACHI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Wednesday conducted a raid Kharadar Gold Market and arrested the accused involved in the illegal currency business (Hawala Hundi).
According to Director FIA Nauman Siddiqui, the FIA Commercial Banking Circle took action in the Kharadar Gold Market on the tip-off of the illegal currency exchange (Hawala Hundi).
According to Nauman Siddiqui, during the operation, foreign currency worth Rs. 4.8 million was recovered from the jeweler’s shop, while the accused Bilal Ahmed, who was involved in buying and selling of foreign currencies, and was arrested.
Director FIA said that $13,000, 7,000 dirhams, 6,000 Riyals and 1,000 Canadian dollars were included in the foreign currency recovered while more than 10 million Pakistani currency was also found.
According to Nauman Siddiqui, a mobile phone was also recovered during the operation and the evidence of the illegal currency exchange was found.
