A resolution against the unexpected huge spike in prices of chicken egg was submitted to the Punjab Assembly secretariat on Friday.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MPA Rabia Nusrat submitted the resolution that states prices of chicken eggs have spiked up even before the advent of winter. One egg is being sold for Rs15 while a dozen costs Rs180 as against official rate of Rs166.
The resolution demands that the government take measures to bring down the prices of chicken eggs.
Previously, a resolution against rising prices of tomatoes was submitted to the provincial legislature.
On November 3, , Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) in its report said the Year to Year inflation increased by 12.3 per cent in the month of October as compared to an increase of 12 % in September and 15.1% in October 2019.
However, basic goods such as fruits, vegetables, and dairy products are being sold at prices more than the prices given by the government in Karachi.
The price of onions given by the government is Rs 60 per kg. However, they are being sold between Rs 70 to Rs 80 in Karachi.
The price of tomatoes given by the government is Rs 155 per kg. But, they are being sold at Rs 170.
The prices of eggs given by the government is Rs 82 per dozen. But, they are being sold at Rs 170 at various places in Karachi.
The price of wheat flour given by the government is Rs 41 per kg. But, they are being sold between Rs 72 to Rs 75 per kg in Karachi.
