LAHORE: The Punjab government has decided to stop the unnecessary use of antibiotics in the province and finalized a plan to regulate the sale of drugs at medical stores.
Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir chaired a meeting on unnecessary use of antibiotics in the province, in which it was decided to stop the unnecessary use of drugs.
Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir said in the meeting that human lives are being lost due to the unnecessary use of antibiotics. He has decided to consult with the Punjab Health Care Commission and Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) to stop the unnecessary use of antibiotics.
Punjab Health Minister directed to give recommendations within a week after consultation with Drug Control Wing, PHC and DRAP. The recommendations will be submitted to higher authorities for final approval.
Khawaja Imran Nazir said in the meeting that it has been decided to regulate the sale of antibiotics and narcotic drugs at medical stores.
