Six dead, eight injured in Russian missiles hit Lviv

According to Maksym Kozytskyy, the chief of the Lviv regional military administration, six persons were killed and eight others were injured in Russian missile strikes on the western Ukrainian city of Lviv on Monday, including one child.

“According to information from the Air Operations Command West, four missile strikes on Lviv were carried out today,” Kozytskyy said on Telegram.
“Three were directed at military infrastructure. One hit a tire repair shop.”

Fires have erupted, and firefighting activities are continuing, according to Kozytskyy, who added that more information was still being obtained.

Russia has intensified its strikes in and around Kyiv, further east, targeting several military manufacturing facilities over several days.

“Five powerful missile strikes at once on the civilian infrastructure of the old European city of Lviv,” tweeted Ukrainian presidential aide Mykhaylo Podolyak.

“The Russians continue barbarically attacking Ukrainian cities from the air, cynically declaring to the whole world their ‘right’ to kill Ukrainians,” he added.

The national railways of Ukraine’s Alexander Kamyshin said on social media that while some infrastructure had been damaged, no passengers or staff were injured.

He also distributed a photo of a blaze rising from a small building next to a railroad track.

Sadovy said no one had been killed or injured as a result of the strikes.

In late March, Russian missiles targeted a fuel depot in Lviv, injuring five people. Aircraft repair factory near Lviv airport was bombed on March 18. No one was hurt.

On March 13, Russian cruise missiles hit a major military base 40 km north of Lviv, killing 35 and injuring 134.

Lviv, near the Polish border, has become a haven for displaced persons and has hosted several Western embassies since the war began.
