Selena Gomez offered a polite retort to an online bully. The Calm Down singer responded to a troll’s comment on her TikTok, which made fun of her shaky hands, by taking off her makeup and going bare-faced, according to HollywoodLife.

On Wednesday, January 25, 2023, Gomez, 30, said in the comments section of a TikTok video, “I shake because of my lupus medication.” Read my disclaimer as well. I’m not a pro.

On January 9, 2023, the Only Murders in the Building actress shared a TikTok in which she can be seen taking off her makeup, applying skincare items, and making goofy expressions at the camera.

She wrote, “PSA I got most of these products free. I ain’t just rolling like that everywhere. Use any serum to take off make up before washing. It breaks it up nicely. Also use a sponge to wipe eyes to treat eyes delicately when removing make up. K I’m done pretending I know what I’m talking about.”

Since receiving a lupus diagnosis in 2014, the 30-year-old has been outspoken about her battle with the autoimmune disease. According to E! News, Selena got a kidney transplant in 2017 as a result of the condition.

Gomez went into further depth about her battle with lupus, which flared up once more in 2020, in her documentary Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me, released in 2022.

Selena, who is sobbing in the documentary, remarks of the joint agony she is experiencing, “I haven’t felt it since I was younger.” It aches like everything when I wake up in the morning, so I immediately start crying.
