Naqvi orders to form committee to probe rigging allegations

LAHORE: Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi has taken notice of the massive rigging in the elections by the resigned Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Liaqat Ali Chattha.

Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi has issued an order to form a high-level committee to inquire into the allegations of election rigging in Rawalpindi Division.

Mohsin Naqvi, while responding to the press conference of Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, said that the real facts related to the allegations regarding irregularities in the general elections will be brought before the nation and an independent inquiry will be conducted into the allegations.

On the other hand, while talking to Punjab Information Minister Aamir Mir, he strongly denied the accusations of Commissioner Rawalpindi and said that such accusations can only be made by a fanatic or a person with psychological problems.

He said the matter will be fully investigated and there will also be an inquiry as to how a person with such a mindset reached such a high position.

ECP rejects allegations of rigging in general election

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has strongly denied the allegations of rigging in the election by Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Liaqat Ali Chattha.

Responding to the press conference of Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, the spokesperson ECP denied all the allegations and said that the Chief Election Commissioner or any official of the Election Commission never issued any instructions to Commissioner Rawalpindi to change the election results.

The spokesperson of the ECP said that the commissioner of any division is not a DRO, RO or presiding officer, nor does the commissioner have any direct role in the conduct of the election.

It should be remembered that Commissioner Rawalpindi Liaqat Ali Chattha, during a press conference held at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium regarding the preparations for the PSL, accused of serious irregularities in the general elections.

Liaqat Ali Chattha alleged that the Election Commission, Chief Election Commissioner, and Chief Justice of Pakistan are also involved in this work and these people should also resign from their posts.
