Amjad Islam Amjad, a well-known poet and playwright, dies in Lahore.
His family provided confirmation of his passing. They said that the 78-year-old poet passed away after a heart attack.
On August 4, 1944, in Lahore, Amjad was born. In 1967, he received his Masters in Urdu from the University of Punjab. He was hired as an Urdu professor at the MAO College in Lahore in 1968. Up until 1975, he was still a professor there. He was appointed deputy director of Punjab’s Arts Council in August of the same year.

He has played a crucial role in the literary community. Varis, Din, Fishar, are only a few of his works. His well-known television drama Khuwab Jaagtay Hain got a prize in 1975.
He also translated the Urdu poetry collection Kale Logon ki Roshan Nazmein by African writers.
In addition, Amjad Islam Amjad created dramas based on criticism. He has received numerous national and international honours. In 1987, he won the Pride of Performance, and in 1998, he was given the Sitara-e-Imtiaz. He then won the renowned Tamgh-e-Imtiaz in 1998.
