Sooraj Pancholi’s mother, Zarina Wahab, recently opened up about the Jiah Khan suicide case, in which Sooraj was acquitted of abetment to suicide charges in 2023.
Reflecting on the tragic incident, Zarina revealed that Jiah had previously attempted suicide multiple times before her son’s involvement.
In an interview with Lehren, Zarina said, “Uske pehle bhi usne 4-5 baar try kiya hai, lekin naseeb aisi thi ki jab mere bete ka turn aaya toh it happened” (even before that, she had tried 4-5 times, but it was destiny that when my son’s turn came, it happened).
Zarina also discussed the impact the case had on Sooraj’s career, noting the emotional toll it took on their family. “We all went through a bad time, but I believe in one thing: ‘If you spoil anybody’s life with lies, take it as a loan; it will come to you with interest.’ Karma says that,” she stated. Despite the hardships, she added, “Hum log ne intezaar kiya jab he was not guilty (we all waited),” expressing relief at Sooraj’s acquittal after a long legal battle.
Zarina, however, refrained from speaking further about Jiah’s personal life, saying, “Woh kya karti thi sab jaante hai… I don’t want to open my mouth.” She emphasized that her family had endured significant hardship throughout the ordeal.
