ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) founder and his wife Bushra Bibi separately moved the District and Sessions Court challenging the verdict of the illegal Nikah case.

Former first lady Bushra Bibi filed an appeal in the District and Sessions Court Islamabad through her lawyers Usman Gill, Khalid Yousaf, and Salman Safdar, in which it is said that the decision delivered by Civil Judge Qudrat Ullah on February 2 is against the facts.

It is further stated in the petition that the indictment against Bushra Bibi on January 16 is also illegal, the jurisdictional plea was rejected without giving any reason, and the civil court did not conduct the trial properly. Bushra Bibi reserves the right to request discharge from the case.

In the petition filed by Bushra Bibi, it is also stated that the complainant Khawar Maneka filed the complaint after 6 years, a similar petition was earlier filed by another complainant. The trial court looked at the rules of reference, ignored the Sharia law on divorce, and changed the statements of complainant Khawar Maneka and witnesses.

In the petition, it is requested that the decision of the trial court should be declared null and void and discharge Bushra Bibi from the case.
