LAHORE: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Lahore made helmet-wearing mandatory for motorcycle riders, and a notification was also issued.
As per the notification issued, pumps will be banned from dispensing petrol to motorcyclists without helmets. In this regard, Deputy Commissioner Lahore said that motorcycle riders without helmets will not be allowed to give petrol under any circumstances.
The Deputy Commissioner said that every month hundreds of people are injured in accidents without helmets in the city.
Earlier, Chief Traffic Officer(CTO) Mustansar Feroze said in a statement that the entry of motorcycle riders without helmets was stopped on all highways, and bikers without helmets will not be allowed to come on the busy highway.
The CTO said that action was taken against 810,000 motorcyclists without helmets in six months. The crackdown will significantly reduce accidents.
Mustansar Feroze said that 95 percent of citizens wearing helmets on Mall Road is welcome.
