Google’s Year in Search 2024 revealed the trends that kept Pakistanis engaged online, showcasing a mix of sports, entertainment, food, and technology.

As always, cricket dominated the search trends, with the ICC T20 World Cup and PSL 2024 schedules topping the charts.

Players like Shoaib Malik, Sajid Khan, and Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem also captured significant attention, with Nadeem celebrated for winning Pakistan’s first gold medal in nearly three decades.

In entertainment, searches for Pakistani dramas like Ishq Murshid and Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum showcased the enduring love for local TV. Bollywood blockbusters like Animal, Dunki, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 were also widely searched, alongside the hit show Mirzapur Season 3 and reality TV phenomenon Bigg Boss 17.

Food searches highlighted a craving for diverse recipes, including banana bread, creamy pasta, and local favorites like malpura and tawa kaleji. Seasonal treats such as peach iced tea also trended.

On the tech front, Pakistanis explored tools like Gemini and Remaker AI, and searched for smartphones like the iPhone 16 Pro Max and Vivo Y100. “How to” queries included checking polling stations, making flowers last longer, and teaching children to share.

Farhan Qureshi, Google’s Country Director for Pakistan, summed it up:
“Pakistanis are using Google to explore passions, connect with their culture, and shape their future. AI continues to reimagine search, and we’re excited to help Pakistanis discover more.”

The six key categories in Google’s Year in Search 2024 include:

  • Cricket: ICC T20 World Cup, PSL 2024, Pakistan vs India
  • People: Arshad Nadeem, Sana Javed, Mukesh Ambani
  • Movies & Dramas: Heeramandi, Animal, Mirzapur Season 3
  • How To: Check polling stations, download YouTube videos, earn without investment
  • Recipes: Banana bread, tawa kaleji, peach iced tea
  • Tech: ChatGPT, Gemini, Infinix Note 30, iPhone 16 Pro Max
