George Miller Impressed by Anya Taylor-Joy’s Stellar Performance in ‘Furiosa’

George Miller

In a recent revelation, director George Miller shared insights into the casting process for his upcoming film, “Furiosa,” the latest installment in the iconic Mad Max series. Before the film’s release, Edgar Wright, director of “Last Night in Soho,” sought Miller’s opinion on lead actress Anya Taylor-Joy’s performance. Miller recalled, “[He said], ‘Do it, do it. She’s great.'” Inspired by Wright’s endorsement, Miller decided to cast Taylor-Joy in the titular role of Furiosa.

Set in a dystopian world, “Furiosa” follows the journey of a young woman abducted by the powerful Biker Horde, led by Chris Hemsworth’s character, the Warlord of Dementus. As she navigates her path home, Furiosa encounters numerous challenges and hardships.

During a recent trip to Las Vegas, Miller accepted a prestigious filmmaking award and discussed his experience working with Taylor-Joy and Hemsworth. He praised Taylor-Joy’s discipline, drawing parallels to Charlize Theron’s background as a ballet dancer, stating, “There’s something mystical about her, and yet, there’s an accessibility.”

Regarding Hemsworth’s portrayal of the Warlord, George Miller expressed admiration for the actor’s depth and versatility, noting, “He’s somebody who in every way is exemplary.”

As anticipation builds for “Furiosa,” Miller’s remarks offer valuable insights into the casting decisions that have shaped the film’s dynamic characters and captivating narrative.
