Shah Mahmood Qureshi

Pakistan has reiterated its call for a peaceful and expeditious resolution of Kashmir and Palestine issues in accordance with the aspirations of the people.

Speaking at a virtual ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement, hosted by Azerbaijan, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said it is central to ensuring durable peace in South Asia and the Middle East.

The Foreign Minister also conveyed Pakistan’s deep concern on the deteriorating security situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh region and called intensive shelling by Armenian forces on civilian populations of Azerbaijani villages ‘reprehensible.’

He called for strict adherence to the principles and purposes of the UN Charter and NAM, including refraining from acts or threats of aggression; respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity; and non-interference in internal affairs of others.

Yesterday, Michelle Bachelet, head of the United Nations (UN) Human Rights body, expressed concern over the loss of human lives in the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh and urged both Armenia and Azerbaijan to immediately end the two-week war.

According to the details, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights said there was “grave concern” in recent days over reports of shelling and shelling of densely populated areas around the conflict.
