Renowned actor Durefishan Saleem has expressed her strong disapproval of the rich in-laws of the accused in the Karsaz case, Natasha, for handling a recent tragic incident involving mental illness as a defense. Saleem took to Instagram to share her frustration, reposting a friend’s critical post about the case.
Her friend, Yawar Iqbal, highlighted that the recent Karsaz car accident, which resulted in the deaths of an elderly man and a young girl, involved Natasha Iqbal, a member of the Gul Ahmed family. Natasha, driving recklessly on August 19, collided with a bike and multiple vehicles, causing fatalities and injuries. Her defense lawyer initially claimed she was mentally unstable and that the family was unaware she had taken the car.
Durefishan Saleem quoted Yawar Iqbal’s critique: “The Gul Ahmed family had a mentally ill daughter (Natasha Danish) and they let her drive around freely till she killed two people, my driver’s brother-in-law and his niece.” Iqbal questioned, “The woman is sitting on a board of a massive organisation. Why would the family let an ill person sit on board?”

Iqbal also criticized the privileged class for exploiting mental illness as a legal loophole: “The rich use the term mentally ill so proficiently when they need to dodge the law and with money, they always can.” She added, “But in this lawless country, there is absolutely no accountability for the rich and I for once don’t want the family to wait for the judgment day.”
