Elvis Presley was an American singer and actor. Dubbed the “King of Rock and Roll”, he is regarded as one of the most significant cultural icons of the 20th century.
While they were both dating the same American girl, Elvis Presley went head-to-head with Hollywood actor Steve McQueen. When she spoke to the King of Rock and Roll on the phone, McQueen referred to him as a “hick.” In the end, the actress refused to work with either of the stars.
During his time in Hollywood, Elvis Presley dated a lot of women. With a flurry of musical films in the 1960s, the singer made a partial move into acting. However, in 1970, he began to develop feelings for an actress with whom he was not working: Barbara Leigh.
Terrill said, “The two met one day on the way to the studio in the mid-60s. Elvis was in a limousine when McQueen pulled up on a motorcycle. They were pleasant to each other but the exchange was brief.”
Elvis was in a passionate relationship with Leigh just a few years afterward. When Leigh was cast as Charmagne in Steve McQueen’s Junior Bonner in 1972, everything changed.
McQueen and Leigh portrayed on-screen lovers, and things began to heat up behind the scenes for the performers as well. Soon after, both Elvis Presley and Steve McQueen were dating Leigh at the same time.
“Barbara, Steve, and Elvis had a ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ policy regarding the people they were dating. I have a sneaking suspicion Steve knew she was still seeing Elvis and that Elvis knew she was seeing Steve.” Terrill recalled
