Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mehmood said about 1% COVID-19 rate has been witnessed in educational institutions and that was satisfactory for the government, adding that institutes were being re-opened with strict implementation of SOPs.

The minister said the government’s action against the COVID-19 outbreak was being appreciated internationally. Earlier, the government had decided to close schools, colleges, and universities in March in order to curb the spread of coronavirus.

Sindh, however, had suspended educational activities in the province on February 27 after the detection of the first COVID-19 case in Karachi.
