China bans 105 apps to stop spread of illegal content

China has banned 105 mobile apps from the app stores in the country, including the US app TripAdvisor. The purpose of banning the applications is to cleanse its store that may be involved in spreading obscene, pornographic, violent, and bloody content.

Cyberspace Administration of China in a statement said that,

“Since November 5, a special rectification of mobile application information content chaos has been organized.”

Meanwhile, eight app stores, including speed downloads, 7755 apps, New Vision, Win Home, Pippi Bus, 7230 Mobile Games, Software Emperor, and dmfuns were totally banned as they were allowing the download of illegal content.

“The Cyberspace Administration of China will continue to promote the rectification of mobile applications […] promptly clean up and dispose of illegal and illegal mobile applications and application stores, and strive to create a clean cyberspace,” it added.

In addition, China tightly monitors its cyberspace, and penalties for transgressions are not unusual, regardless of whether the app is run by a domestic or international corporation.
