“You will notice that right since my debut film (Vicky Donor), with my choice of films, I have tried to do my bit to have a constructive conversation with society about the need for change.”

“I’ve always strongly felt that through cinema, we could ask society to widen its gaze towards important subjects that were not being addressed.”

Ayushmann recently opened up about being appointed as UNICEF’s Celebrity Advocate for their global campaign EVAC (Ending Violence Against Children).

“As a UNICEF celebrity advocate, my role is to further children’s rights, to support UNICEF in advocating for these rights using my voice and my influence,” he said during an interview.

“One of the major issues I am supporting is ending violence against children, to advocate that violence against children is unacceptable, and it is preventable,” he added.

The actor further reacted to the Hatharas and Balrampur case, claiming that there was a pressing need in society for men to be raised in a better way.

“Shocked, shattered and devastated. After Hathras, now another gangrape and murder at Balrampur! It’s barbaric, inhuman and calls for the most severe punishment to the guilty. When will this stop? We are failing every single day to protect the women of our country. Have to do more than just protecting women. We have to raise better sons,” he said.

On the other hand, Ayushmann made his first Bollywood debut with Shoojit Sircar’s Vicky Donor.

Ayushman Khurrana featured in TIME’s 100 most influential list

Ayushman Khurrana

Bollywood starlet and singer Ayushman Khurrana has been featured in Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People Of 2020 list.

Colleague and global icon Deepika Padukone has written a short article in the magazine, appreciating Ayushman Khurrana’s talent.

She wrote: “I remember Ayushmann Khurrana vividly from his debut film, Vicky Donor. He had, of course, been a part of the entertainment industry in various other ways for several years before that, but the reason you and I talk about him today is because of the impact he has been able to create through memorable films and iconic characters. Where male protagonist roles often fall into the trap of stereotypical masculinity, Ayushman has successfully and convincingly transformed into characters who challenge those very stereotypes.”

Deepika Padukone also applauded the singer’s courage when it comes to choosing ‘unconventional roles’ and added, “In India, with a population of more than 1.3 billion, only a tiny percentage of people see their dreams come alive, and Ayushmann Khurrana is one of them. You’re probably wondering, How? Talent and hard work. Sure, that goes without saying. But more important, patience, perseverance and fearlessness. A little insight for those who dare to dream.”
