NEPRA approves surcharge of Rs 1.52 for K-Electric users

KARACHI: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved a hike of Rs 1.52 per kWh surcharge for K-Electric (KE) consumers.

According to the statement of NEPRA, at the request of the federal government, NEPRA approved the imposition of an additional surcharge.

NEPRA’s statement said that the additional surcharge on K-Electric customers will be applied from December 2023 to November 2024. The additional surcharge will cost K-Electric users more than 24.50 billion.

NEPRA has submitted the decision to the federal government after approval.

Sources said that the federal government will issue a final notification on the imposition of surcharge, the increase will not apply to Lifeline customers of K-Electric.
