Kanye West could land himself into serious legal trouble after making a false statement that George Floyd died due to the drug fentanyl overdose instead of police brutality.

As a result of the Donda rapper’s divisive remarks concerning George Floyd’s death at the hands of a Minnesota police officer, it has been claimed that George Floyd’s family is thinking about suing him.

Following West’s remarks, Floyd’s family’s civil rights attorney Lee Merritt said on Twitter that a lawsuit against the rapper is being considered due to his “false assertions about the method of his death.”

 

Merritt also noted that the family may now take legal action against West. “While one cannot defame the dead, the family of George Floyd is considering suit for Kanye’s false statements about the manner of his death,” he tweeted on Sunday.

“Claiming Floyd died from fentanyl not the brutality established criminally and civilly undermines & diminishes the Floyd family’s fight.”

Floyd, a Black male, was killed by police in a confrontation in Minneapolis in May 2020. A nine-minute video of the incident shows Officer Derek Chauvin kneeing Floyd in the neck.

In a Saturday visit on the Drink Champs podcast, West made the deplorable claims.

Discussing Candace Owens’s documentary, The Greatest Lie Ever Sold: George Floyd and the Rise of BLM, West claimed that Floyd died from the drug fentanyl and that a police officer’s knee “wasn’t even on his neck like that.”

West’s recent round of controversy started after he wore a “White Lives Matter” T-shirt at a Paris fashion show.

Kanye West continues to express his opinions despite having his Instagram account blocked as a result of his divisive posts. He recently went on a tirade against a number of people, including ex-Kim Kardashian, Pete Davidson, and her mother Kris Jenner. As the rapper just made an appearance in the podcast Drink Champs, which is hosted by N.O.R.E.

In his podcast interview, Kanye discussed a number of topics, one of which was Kim’s most recent reveal from The Kardashians’ fourth season. Following the outrage he received for his anti-semitic postings, West, who has previously been embroiled in scandal, continued to talk about Kim being a Christian and continuing to make similar revelations on the show. At one point, the rapper also attacked Trevor Noah, host of The Daily Show, for standing up for Kim earlier this year when the rapper launched an internet tirade against her, alleging that she wasn’t allowing him see their children.

Kim was recently heard telling her grandmother MJ on the fourth episode of The Kardashians Season 2 that she and her then-boyfriend Pete Davidson had sex in front of the fireplace to honour her. While the revelation went viral in no time on social media, Kanye had a strong reaction to it during his podcast interview as per TMZ, he said, “Kim is a Christian. On TMZ I just saw yesterday it said, ‘Pete Davidson and Kim had sex by the fireplace to honour they grandmother.’ It’s Jewish Zionists that’s about that life, that’s telling this Christian woman that has four Black children to put that out as a message in the media.”

The rapper went on to say that he has no celebrity friends and that no one supported him when he went public with his allegations that the Kardashians “kidnapped” his daughter and failed to give him the address to her birthday party. He also accused the family of “black mirroring” him.

At another point in the interview, Kanye also accused Kim’s mom, Kris Jenner of sleeping with Drake. Kanye was asked about his recent Instagram post that claimed Drizzy will “f**k ya baby mama’s mama.” Speaking about the same he added, “Yeah, that was hard.” West then made a reference to Kris’ longtime boyfriend Corey Gamble and added, “You know what it mean. Ay, Corey, you know what it mean”, via Page Six.

Kanye recently was also involved in the White Lives Matter controversy after he wore a t-shirt that read “White Lives Matter” at the Paris Fashion Week.

Kanye West’s anti-Semitic comments from the weekend have prompted a number of celebrities to criticise him, including Piers Morgan.

After Ye wrote a post that was deemed to be anti-semitic, Instagram also suspended his account over the weekend.

 

The former Good Morning Britain host responded to Ye’s tweet by addressing the decision to block the American rapper from Instagram and Twitter.

Morgan gave his opinion on the removal on Monday via his Twitter account, saying that it was “deserved.”

“Kanye West being locked out of his social media accounts isn’t an attack on free speech, it’s a justified suppression of vile, indefensible hate speech,” he tweeted.

Besides Morgan, Jamie Lee Curtis, Sarah Silverman, Michael Rapaport, John Legend and others also reacted to Ye’s tweet.

Ye tweeted, “I’m a bit sleepy tonight but when I wake up I’m going death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE. The funny thing is I actually can’t be Anti Semitic because black people are actually Jew also You guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda.”

Twitter has since removed the post in question, with a message, “This Tweet violated the Twitter Rules.”

West reportedly publicly criticised Adidas and its CEO, telling the presenter that the German company was stealing his ideas, which broke the news.

Since 2013, Adidas has partnered with West.

“Adidas has always been about creativity, innovation and supporting athletes and artists to achieve their vision. The adidas Yeezy partnership is one of the most successful collaborations in our industry’s history,” Adidas said.

“We also recognize that all successful partnerships are rooted in mutual respect and shared values.”

News about Adidas putting the partnership under review comes less than a month after West’s lawyers sent a letter to Gap Inc notifying the apparel chain he was terminating his partnership with the company. (Reuters)

Although Kanye had already reacted to Gigi and Hailey’s support for Gabriella before, he turned the tables on them once more by using a picture of his ex-girlfriend, model Vinetria, to claim that she is being overlooked in favour of models like Gigi and Hailey.

In his fiery message, Kanye wrote: “Vinetria you are the culture’s favourite “THEEYYY” threw a mask on you at YZY SZN 9 when I wasn’t looking “THEEYY” don’t want undeniable beautiful black woman to be put on their rightful throne…”

He then appeared to refer to Gabriella as an ‘industry plant’, saying: “They want corny ass Gigi Hadid and nose job Hailey Baldloose to rally behind an obvious Corey Gamble level non fashion industry plant.”

The Donda hitmaker made headlines earlier this week when he rallied behind the ‘White Lives Matter’ slogan, claiming that the Black Lives Matter movement was a ‘scam’.
