ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Judicial Council(SJC) again issued a show-cause notice to Supreme Court Judge Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi.

The meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council was chaired by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa in which the complaints against Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi were examined.

According to the sources, a notice was issued to Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi in ​​light of the evidence that came out in the meeting.

The Supreme Judicial Council has said in a show cause that Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi should respond to the show cause notice within 14 days.

According to the sources, Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi had objected to the details of the complaints against him being recorded in the show cause, the council reviewed the complaints and their objections against Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi for three consecutive days.

Sources said that the Supreme Judicial Council issued a detailed show cause notice.

Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi was also issued a show cause notice in the October 27 council meeting.

A copy of the letter written by the Chief Justice of Pakistan has also been sent to the Chief Justice of the Shariat Court and the university administration.

In the letter written by the Chief Justice to the President, Chairman HEC, and the Federal Ministry of Education, it is said that the International Islamic University has lost international standards due to mismanagement. Due to years of mismanagement, Islamic values ​​have also disappeared in the International Islamic University.

In the letter of the Chief Justice, it is said that after 3 years after my request, the President of the State asked to call a meeting of the board members on November 30. The letters are still not answered, the non-response to the letters shows that the Vice President wants to cover up the wrongdoings.

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Judicial Council(SJC) unanimously dismissed the complaint against the senior-most judge of the Supreme Court, Sardar Tariq Masood.

A meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council was held under the chairmanship of Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa in which the complaint against Justice Sardar Tariq Masood was reviewed.

Amna Malik had filed a complaint against Sardar Tariq Masood, on which she was also issued a notice.

According to the sources, the complaint against Justice Sardar Tariq Masood was dismissed unanimously and the council said that nothing concrete was revealed in Amina Malik’s complaint, on which the complaint was dismissed unanimously.

Amina Malik said in a conversation outside the court that the Supreme Judicial Council heard her complaint, after hearing the complaint complainant said directed to go. She said “ I don’t know what order was issued on my complaint”’.

The sources further said that the complaints against Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi will be reviewed after the break and the council meeting has been adjourned.

SC accepts appeals against Pervez Musharraf’s execution

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court accepted the appeal against the sentence of former President General (retd) Pervez Musharraf for hearing.

A 4-member bench headed by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Aminuddin Khan and Justice Athar Minallah heard the appeals related to the punishment of late former President Pervez Musharraf, in which the special court annulled the decision.

In the appeal against verdict, Hamid Khan, Abid Saqi on behalf of Pakistan Bar Council, Rashid A. Rizvi on behalf of Sindh High Court Bar and Salman Safdar on behalf of former President Pervez Musharraf appeared in the court.

Former President Pervez Musharraf has filed an appeal in the Supreme Court against the decision pronounced by the special court on December 17, 2019.

At the beginning of the hearing in the Supreme Court, the Chief Justice said “It is good that all the lawyers are present, there was talk about the bench, I want to clarify, I am not in favor of changing the benches. I have heard the case, I do not understand that the cases of 2019 have not been decided till date”.

Meanwhile, Pervez Musharraf’s lawyer Salman Safdar said that after the amendment of the criminal law, an appeal was filed in the Supreme Court against the decision of the special court. The decision of the special court against Pervez Musharraf was not unanimous. Pervez Musharraf was sentenced in his absence.

Later, the Supreme Court accepted the appeal against Pervez Musharraf’s sentence for hearing.

CJP delegates several administrative powers to SC’s Registrar

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Qazi Faez Isa delegated several of his administrative powers to the Supreme Court’s Registrar.

According to the notification issued by the Supreme Court, the Registrar Supreme Court will have complete authority in the matters related to Jazeela Islam Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

The notification states that the Registrar’s decision on PAC matters will be subject to the approval of the Full Court or the Chief Justice.

According to the notification, the Audit and Departmental Accounts Committee will also conduct the affairs with the approval of the Registrar Chief Justice.

The notification states that the Registrar will also finalize the annual budget plan of the Supreme Court with the approval of the Chief Justice.

A meeting of the Judicial Commission was held under the chairmanship of Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa.

The appointment of Justice Irfan Saadat as a Supreme Court Judge was recommended by the Judicial Commission unanimously.

The Judicial Commission sent the name of Justice Irfan Saadat to the Parliamentary Committee for Appointment of Judges for final approval.

It should be noted that Justice Irfan Saadat Khan is currently the Acting Chief Justice of Sindh High Court(SHC).

SC constitutes six benches to hear important cases

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has constituted six benches for hearing cases from October 9 to October 13.

A 15-member full court of the Supreme Court will hear the Practice and Procedure Act 2023 case on October 9, while a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Qazi Faez Isa will hear 50 cases from October 10 to 13.

A 2-member bench headed by Justice Sardar Tariq Masood will hear 120 cases in the next judicial week, while a 3-member bench headed by Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan will hear 50 cases.

Similarly, a 2-member bench headed by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah will hear 50 cases. A 3-member bench headed by Justice Yahya Afridi will hear 50 cases.

A two-member bench headed by Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail will hear 40 cases next week.

IB moves SC to withdraw Faizabad sit-in review petition

ISLAMABAD: The Intelligence Bureau (IB) has decided to withdraw its review pleas filed in the Supreme Court in the Faizabad Dharna(Faizabad Sit-in) case.

The Deputy Director of the Intelligence Bureau filed a miscellaneous application in the Faizabad Dharna review case in the Supreme Court.

In the miscellaneous petition of the Deputy Director, it has been stated that the IB wants to withdraw the review plea against the decision.

On the other hand, former federal minister Sheikh Rasheed’s lawyer filed a petition for adjournment of the Faizabad sit-in review case.

It has been stated in the petition that Sheikh Rasheed is under custody and cannot be contacted, his lawyer Amanullah Kanrani has now become the provincial law minister, so he cannot appear in the Faizabad Dharna review case as the provincial law minister.

It has been requested in the petition that the court adjourn the hearing of the case.

It should be noted that the Faizabad sit-in review case will be heard in the Supreme Court on September 28.

According to sources, the Quaid-e-Azam University Syndicate has decided to restore the student union in the university.

Sources say that a committee has been set up under the chairmanship of Education Secretary Waseem Ajmal to decide the rules for the student union.

Sources said that the Chief Justice expressed his displeasure over the presence of armed police, rangers, and security in the university and asked them to keep the university free from weapons and drugs.

ISLAMABAD: The swearing-in ceremony of the nominated Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa will be held on September 17 at the President’s House, for which preparations have been started.

President Dr Arif Alvi will administer the oath to the nominated Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa. Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar and heads of armed forces including federal ministers will also participate in the ceremony.

Invitations have been sent for the swearing-in ceremony.

Sources said current Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial moved to the house reserved for retired judges after vacating the Chief Justice House. He is retiring from the post on September 16.

On the other hand, the spokesperson of Islamabad Police said in his statement that security has been provided to the nominated Chief Justice as per the law while his Chief Security Officer has also been appointed.

Earlier, President Arif Alvi approved the appointment of Justice Qazi Faez Isa as the Chief Justice of Pakistan, after which the Ministry of Law issued a notification.

The matter, related to the audio leaks commission headed by Justice Isa, was heard by the Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial in his chamber.

Lawyer Riaz Hanif Rahi had filed a contempt of court petition against Justice Faiz Isa.

Lawyer Riaz Hanif Rahi withdrew his plea, on the basis of which the matter was disposed of.

It should be noted that recently the Supreme Court of Pakistan had stopped the Audio Leaks Inquiry Commission established under the chairmanship of the nominated Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa from working.

On May 20, the federal government formed a three-member judicial commission on the issue of audio leaks. The commission headed by the senior-most judge of the Supreme Court, Justice Qazi Faez Isa, included the chief justices of Balochistan High Court and Islamabad High Court.
