Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban first met in 2005 at the G’Day USA gala, an event celebrating Australians in the arts.
Even though they both have Australian roots, they didn’t meet until this event in January 2005. In 2017, on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Nicole Kidman shared that she had a big crush on Keith Urban, but he didn’t seem interested. They exchanged numbers at their first meeting, but it took Keith four months to call her, making her think he wasn’t interested.
Nicole Kidman thought Keith Urban wasn’t interested in her, but he was really into her. Over the years, he made sure she knew it.
On Kidman’s 38th birthday, Keith gave her gardenias, a flower that represents love and affection in the morning. “That is when I went, ‘This is the man I hope to get to marry’,” she revealed.
The couple got engaged in May 2006 and tied the knot on June 25, 2006, in a wedding held in Sydney, Australia. Keith Urban expressed his love by singing “Making Memories of Us” at their reception.
Keith Urban continued to show his love for Nicole Kidman in various ways. In 2013, he dedicated the song “Got It Right This Time” to her on Valentine’s Day during a live concert. In 2019, during another concert, he had the audience sing “Happy Birthday, dear baby girl!” for Nicole as a special birthday gift.
